19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is his first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from that period of that year.

Victory also means he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He defended 4 initial opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
