Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have encountered numerous entertaining independent titles. Yet, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure features a hero that is actually a piece of poop attempting to make its way to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is straightforward: you only need a single jump button. Across 150 challenges, you'll face tough enemies and unlock a shop to acquire outfits for your dung hero.

Plan your movements with caution, as a error forces restarting the level. Jump using bubbles to launch the poop higher, cross fragile ledges, and activate switches to unlock hidden paths. Earn UN-KOINS to purchase more difficult stages where things ramps up.

Visually, the game boasts eye-catching level designs and a killer music score. Its minimalist graphics featuring shifting basic polygons may remind gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.

Although tough to think of previous releases where you control a coiled turd, interactive entertainment often incorporated toilet humor. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can create grenades from character droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as plant food. Naturally, fecal references is present heavily in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Despite its silly premise, Unko Technica has already received significant accolades, like being named best at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is accessible currently on Steam, with the complete version planned to launch on Steam in the fall.
